Re-Registration Process for Returning Student Organizations

Preparing Your Org for the Year

Student organizations already recognized at Buffalo State must apply for re-registration on an annual basis. It is the responsibility of the student organization to complete this process. Failure to comply with the re-registration timeline and process may result in a revocation of your student organization’s registration status, being listed as inactive, club budget frozen and/or penalized, or placed on suspension.

The re-registration period each year will begin on April 1st and end on May 31st each academic year. A second re-registration period will open the first two weeks of classes.

Login to Bengal Connect to Start the Process

  1. Login to Bengal Connect
  2. Go the the Menu Bar on the left hand side and click on your organization's icon
  3. Then, click "Manage Home"
  4. Finally, click the blue "Re-Register This Organization"
  5. Complete the form

Please note that in order to start your organization's re-registration process via Bengal Connect, you must have all access to your organization's page. It is the responsibility of the past President to give access to the new President.

Update 2026-2027 Executive Board Roster - In Bengal Connect

Provide an updated active executive board roster of at least five (5) Buffalo State students, for the upcoming academic year. 

All executive board members must be registered as full-time (12 credits), matriculated Buffalo State students. This includes: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Organization Representative.

Please have prepared:

  • E-Board's First and Last Name
  • E-Board's Buffalo State Emails
  • E-Board's Banner #'s

Update Advisor Information - In Bengal Connect

Please have prepared:

  • An advisor for the new academic year (Student organization advisors must be a full-time Buffalo State faculty/staff member.
  • The advisor's first and last name
  • The advisor's Buffalo State email

Please send the Advisor Agreement Form to your advisor for completion. The form can be found here. If you need a new advisor, contact sle@buffalostate.edu and we can assist you in matching your organization with an advisor.

Confirm Mandatory Student Organization Training Date - In Bengal Connect

Each organization is responsible for acknowledging that they receiving information for the annual Mandatory Student Organization Training. 

This year, the training will take place on Monday, August 31, 2026 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM in Bulger with Student Leadership and Engagement and the United Students Government (USG) to be trained on Buffalo State policies and procedures. 

Each USG and Non-USG organization MUST send at least 3 (three) e-board members to this training. Please email greenac1@buffalostate.edu and usgpresident@buffalostate.edu for any questions or conflicts.

Failure to do so may result in the following: 

  • All current space reservations will be placed on hold. 
  • Unable to reserve future space in the Campbell Student Union, Butler Library, Academic Buildings, Recreation Fields, and the Houston Gym and Sports Arena.
  • Temporary suspension in recognition.

Complete End-Of-Year Survey - In Bengal Connect

Please have prepared:

  1. How many active members does your organization currently have? (Please give an approximate #)
  2. How many of those members are returning from last academic year? (Please give an approximate #)
  3. On average, how many members regularly attend events/meetings/programs? (Please give an approximate #)
  4. How many events/meetings/programs did your organization host this academic year (2025-2026)?
  5. How many collaborations did your organization have with other student organizations or campus offices this year?

Update Active Member Roster - In Bengal Connect

All organization are responsible for uploading their organization's most up-to-date active roster using Student Leadership and Engagement's roster template.

Important Notes

United Students Government (USG) Organizations

The United Students Government (USG) serves as an official recognizing agent at Buffalo State. USG recognition is a separate process and provides student organizations the opportunity to qualify for activity fee funds in addition to other benefits. All currently recognized USG member organizations must complete USG re-recognition once every three years. However, all organizations are required to register via Bengal Connect with an updated roster, contact information, advisor, and constitution on an annual basis.

Fraternities and Sororities

Greek-lettered organizations will follow the same re-recognition process but will need to supply additional information (proof of insurance, letter of good standing) and can be found in Bengal Connect when completing the following steps. All student organizations will be required to attend the mandatory annual meeting with Student Leadership and Engagement to be trained on Buffalo State policies and procedures. This meeting will occur the first few weeks of the academic year. Each student organization will be required to send at least one three (3) e-board members to this meeting. The 2026-2027 Mandatory Student Organization Training will take place on Monday, August 31st from 6pm-9pm in Bulger. USG and Non-USG organizations are responsible for sending 3 executive board members to attend. Meet-Up groups are responsible for sending 1 member to attend. Fraternities and Sororities have a separate training.
