Bengal Stripes Leadership Program
The Bengal Stripes Leadership Program seeks to prepare students for college and develop the essential skills necessary to be personally, professionally, and academically successful at Buffalo State College and beyond. This is accomplished through education, development, and training students in a series of workshops, personal development programs, civic engagement, and active engagement with the college and community. The program is free and open to all Buffalo State students.
Students are welcome to take the workshops in any order at any time that fits their schedule. A certificate of recognition in student leadership will be awarded when the student has completed the program requirements.
The program consists of five workshops based on the Leadership Challenge’s Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership. A sixth workshop will give students the opportunity to complete the DISC Profile Assessment and better understand themselves and those they interact with – and then use this knowledge to reduce conflict and improve working relationships.
The Bengal Stripes Leadership Program also recognizes the importance of being engaged with the campus community. Students will be required to attend 2 social justice programs, 2 professional development programs, and 2 community engagement programs. A list of campus sponsored programs will be posted on Bengal Connect.
Students that have completed all program requirements will be honored at the Dean of Students annual Bengal Banquet and earn the certificate of recognition in student leadership. The certificate of recognition is non-credit bearing.
