Welcome Bengal Parents & Support Networks!

Here at Buffalo State, we recognize that it takes a village to support a college student. When we welcome new students at Buffalo State, we are also extending a warm welcome to the countless parents, guardians, and support networks who have helped to get our students to this point. As your student begins their transition, there are integral ways that you can continue to support them. Check out our top 7 tips that we find helpful for you to be aware of.

If you have registered for orientation as a parent or member of a support network, we know you are actively planning for your arrival. Our office is happy to answer any lingering questions you have, but we ask that you review this page first as many of your questions may be answered below.

I have arrived to Buffalo, NY. How do I get to campus?

Buffalo State College is located at 1300 Elmwood Avenue. Check in for the day will be in the Campbell Student Union, located just off of Rockwell rd once you are on campus. There are road maps and signs throughout campus to assist you in locating the building. In order to get to campus recommend using UBER, LYFT, calling a cab or renting a car

I am not from the area and need a place to stay close to campus. (all hotels are 10 miles or less from the college)

Wyndham Garden Buffalo

Hampton Inn Buffalo

Hyatt Regency Hotel Buffalo

Embassy Suites Buffalo

Double Tree Hotel Buffalo

Hilton Garden Inn Buffalo

Residence Inn Buffalo

Aloft Hotel Buffalo

The Curtiss Hotel

I've never been to Buffalo and plan on coming into town a bit earlier or staying a bit later, what is there to do?

The area in which the college is located is called the Elmwood Village, there are plenty of restaurants and local shops nearby.

If you are a fan of the arts, or other artsy dive bars. The Allentown area is also close to the college.

If you like theater check out our downtown theater district and catch a play.

Again, thank you for all you have done to get your student to this point. Family supports become even more important once the college journey has begun, so we encourage to check in with your student throughout the year and stay connected with what’s happening at Buffalo State College! You should also keep any eye out and become familiar with our Dean of Students, student support page which is filled with resources and a copy of the monthly newsletter.
