How to Make the Most out of ROAR 2 Success

How to Make the Most out of ROAR 2 Success?

Connect with your Completion Coach monthly (let them know how you are doing or if you need help, meetings can be virtual or in person). You can schedule a meeting by going to your network in the Bengal Success portal and clicking your coach's name. You may also email them directly, or stop by the lounge in the Campbell Student Union room 404 during drop in hours. Drop in hours are held virtually every first Wed from 10a-12p (the meeting password is ROAR) or every Wed in person 1p-3p in our lounge.

A semester is only 15 weeks, this can be shorter depending on holidays and other breaks. If you meet with your coach monthly, this will equate to about 3 meetings per semester. Coming prepared to discuss things at your meetings will also help make them more productive. So what should these meetings focus in?

  • Clarify any questions about your schedule
  • Review your financial aid statement and clarify any questions
  • Proactively set up tutoring or other academic resources
  • Define your goals for the semester

Meeting #2: Maintaining Progress (recommended to occur Week 5-9 of the semester)

  • Wellness check in regarding your overall adjustment and social balance, connection to resources if needed
  • Update your coach on your academic progress
  • Review your financial aid statement and ensure your FASFA is completed for the next academic year. Review the CAPS portal for eligibility
  • Proactively set up tutoring or other academic resources, discuss midterm preparation
  • Check in on your semester goal progress and adjust if needed

Meeting #3: Preparing for next semester (recommended to occur Week 10-14 of the semester)

  • Wellness check in regarding your overall adjustment and social balance, connection to resources if needed
  • Update your coach on your academic progress
  • Review your financial aid statement and ensure your bill is under the hold threshold ($500), make a plan to rectify if it is not
  • Proactively set up tutoring or other academic resources, discuss finals preparation
  • Begin discussing registration for the next semester. Obtain pre-registration assistance and schedule a registration meeting with your advisor.
