After you have accepted your offer of admission to Buffalo State College and your tuition deposit has been received, your next step to becoming a Bengal is attending orientation. Student Leadership and Engagement is excited to welcome first year students back to campus for an in-person orientation session this summer.
How do I register for Orientation?: A formal invitation to register for orientation will be sent to the email address you used when you applied for admission to Buffalo State College after your new student deposit is received. To register for an orientation session, you will need to log into your Buffalo State College applicant portal. Through the portal you will be able to register for a session. As your scheduled orientation approaches you will begin to receive a series of email reminders. A final email reminder will be sent to your Buffalo State College email address 24 hours prior to your scheduled orientation session with information on parking and session check in details.
What are the dates for Transfer Student Orientation?: Transfer sessions this summer will be approximately 1 day. We recognize that although you may be new to Buffalo State college, you are not new to the idea of college and we respect that. Transfer orientation summer session dates are being held July 12, 19, and 26th.
What is the time frame for Transfer Orientation?: Check in begins at 8:00am and ends around 5:00pm.

What if I need to cancel my scheduled date?: Orientation is mandatory and all new incoming students are have a fee which is billed to their first semester account. If you need to cancel and reschedule your session you can do that through the applicant portal as well.
What do I do while I wait for my scheduled session date?: After registering for an in-person orientation, students should then log into the pre-orientation tutorial.
To access the pre-orientation tutorial please do the following:
a) Open your web browser and go to info.flipgrid.com
b) At the top middle of the screen you will see a red box, enter your join code bf75887c
c) You will be prompted to input an email address, please click the Gmail option and login using your Buffalo State email address and password. If you have not set this up and need help, please check out this instructional video.
d) Start with the first module “Learn more about Buffalo State” and then navigate through the other support modules. Next you will access your specific academic program’s video content. Feel free to also view content from other majors that interest you. Not decided on a major yet? Not a problem, explore whatever interests you.
e) Finally, you will view the last module which lets you know what to expect next.
IMPORTANT: Don’t forget to complete the exit survey to receive credit for reviewing the pre-orientation tutorial.
Please note that attending an orientation session is mandatory for all incoming Buffalo State Students. The orientation fee is a fixed price for all students and will appear on your student account as a charge. Each student’s account will be billed for the cost of orientation regardless if they attend or not. The Transfer Student Orientation cost is: $125
Starting January 2020, the associated charge for Orientation will be automatically applied to your student bill. If you attended Orientation prior to then, all past due payments must still be made. Complete the Transfer Pre-Registration Tutorial
We understand that transfer students come to us with a level of collegiate experience and exposure. In an effort to recognize this experience you do not need to wait for an advisor appointment to register for classes. Please complete the Transfer Pre-Registration Tutorial to receive your registration PIN.
This will serve as a foundation for information that will help you throughout your transition to Buffalo State. When you have completed the tutorial, you will be emailed your alternate pin number to register for your classes. This can be completed prior to registering for orientation. Additionally, we recommend that if you are usure of the classes you need to take or have additional course questions that you contact your department for advising prior to registering for classes. Please see the transfer admit page for department information and additional information on what important documents transfer students need to submit prior starting the academic year at Buffalo State.
