We are excited to welcome you to Buffalo State. As a first-year student, you have been enrolled in the ROAR 2 Success program. Enrolled students are required to participate in our summer immersion experience. This two-part summer program will ensure you have completed all of the necessary steps in order to successfully transition to college life at Buffalo State.
July 10th- August 18th
The first half of the summer immersion experience is the Countdown 2 College program. This 6-week digital preparation program is where you will meet members of your Bengal Support Network .
Active participation in the Countdown 2 College program is simple! Beginning in early July, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access the private Roar 2 Success Network. Every Monday at 11am (live session repeated at 1pm) students will be invited to join Success Navigators live via zoom for 1 hour, where they will introduce a new weekly success tip.
July 10: Meet your Support Network
July 17: Invest in your success (financial literacy)
July 24: Get to know the college lingo (campus platforms & college code)
July 31: You came to college to get more knowledge (academic standards)
August 7: It's all about balance (self care & campus resources)
August 14: Welcome Class of 2027 (final transition planning)
Countdown 2 College Evaluation: How did we do?
Each week you will be given a corresponding challenge to complete. Challenges are due by Thursday each week.
By attending the live zoom on Mondays and by completing the weekly challenge by Thursday you will earn Roar Reward points that you will be able to cash in for prizes such as Buffalo State merch, Bengal Bucks, private campus experiences, off campus excursions, and more!
Did you miss the Monday zoom? Do you have more questions? Join our Grad assistant Cayla every Friday at 12pm, for a quick recap of the weekly discussion, live q&a, and some fun engagement games. Friday sessions can be used to make up missed Monday sessions (no more than 3), or gain extra points that you can cash in for prizes this summer.
August 22nd- August 25th
Join us in person, for the second half of the summer immersion experience. These in person workshops and events will allow you to meet other Roar 2 Success students, cash in Roar Rewards, and learn the program expectations this fall.
